Star Sawyer has worked as a therapist since 2007 in a wide range of settings, which include outpatient mental health treatment, school-based counseling as well as family therapy at social service agencies. Currently, her focus is in private practice treating individuals.  

 

She received her Master's in Social work from New York University in 2007 and became a clinical social worker after completing three years of supervised clinical training.  Star has post-masters training in Family Systems at Ackerman Institue for the Family as well as Structural Family Therapy training at Minunchin Center for the Family.

Other training programs in various techniques include: motivational interviewing, play therapy, and Solution Based Casework.

Star's undergraduate degree is in Psychology and Education from Mount Holyoke College.
